As we gather this year to celebrate the 4th of July, we should be asking ourselves why are we celebrating this day year after year.
The Declaration of Independence is the historic document officially declaring that the 13 American colonies were separating from Great Britain to form their own independent nation, signed in 1776.
We all know the history of the writing of the constitution, but did you know that on February 29, 1892 the Supreme Court declared (in Holy Trinity v. United States) that the historical record of America overwhelmingly demonstrated that the United States “… is a Christian nation.”
Here a three of the justices’ opinions:
““One of the beautiful boasts of our municipal jurisprudence is, that Christianity is part of the Common Law, from which it seeks the sanction of its rights, and by which it endeavors to regulate its doctrines. . . There never has been a period, in which the Common Law did not recognize Christianity as lying at its foundations.””
““For many years, my hope for the perpetuity of our institutions has rested upon Bible morality and the general dissemination of Christian principles. This is an element which did not exist in the ancient republics. It is a basis on which free governments may be maintained through all time.””
““I believe no one can read the history of our country without realizing that the Good Book and the spirit of the Saviour have from the beginning been our guiding geniuses . . . Whether we look to the first Charter of Virginia . . . or to the Charter of New England . . . or to the Charter of Massachusetts Bay . . . or to the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut . . . the same objective is present: a Christian land governed by Christian principles . . .“”
““If we pass beyond these matters to a view of American life, as expressed by its laws, its business, its customs, and its society, we find everywhere a clear recognition of the same truth. Among other matters, note the following: the form of oath universally prevailing, concluding with an appeal to the Almighty; the custom of opening sessions of all deliberative bodies and most conventions with prayer; the prefatory words of all wills, “In the name of God, amen;” the laws respecting the observance of the Sabbath, with the general cessation of all secular business, and the closing of courts, legislatures, and other similar public assemblies on that day; the churches and church organizations which abound in every city, town, and hamlet; the multitude of charitable organizations existing everywhere under Christian auspices; the gigantic missionary associations, with general support, and aiming to establish Christian missions in every quarter of the globe.””
We are now celebrating 250 years as a freed nation. Many believe we are not a Christian nation. Many believe if he live America we are their political rivals. Many believe by having freedom of speech we have the right to do what we want. None if these beliefs are true. Evil has come to deceive many.
Decade by decade we have seen in history how America has evolved to where it is today, which is not what any of the founding fathers would have ever dreamed of America becoming.
For about two years we’ve been praying for the Lord to give America back to the righteous. This year as we celebrate our independence expect to see a change. Change in America, Change in your life, Change all around you.
Patriotism is coming back as millions have joined together in prayer for repentance. Believing the Lord Jesus Christ heard their prayers.
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”
America is free because of the blood shed by past generations.
““Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden.””
“ “Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy, forget in time that men have died to win them.””
We are not Republicans or Democrats, We are Americans.
Hang a flag and declare we have received our freedom from Jesus and the blood that was shed for each of us. Never give up your freedom. Pray for America as America will be given back to the righteous, as America has been and always will be a Christian Nation under one God.
